Using an OLED as a PC Monitor; worth it? - [H]ard|Forum
Apr 1, 2008 · Basically, the current crop of LG OLED TVs are too good to even consider using as a "lowly" PC monitor. Joking aside, as others have said, size is probably the biggest downfall. If 48" is too big for you, you won't be happy with a CX 48.
OLED monitors out yet? Best black is black monitor for gaming …
Jul 26, 2019 · Basically, if they (OEMs) want to gain any ground with OLED in the desktop or laptop space, they need to stop pushing 4k so hard. What works for TV markets, does not apply in alternate markets. OLED is an expensive, new tech, that …

May 17, 2020 · IF (240hz AND oled AND 1440p) THEN it's a excellent debut price for a more affordable desktop OLED monitor, the next cheapest was the Asus ProArt OLED at several thousand dollars. I still remember my parents paying THIS much (inflation adjusted) for a 27" CRT TV back in the Nintendo / VHS days.

The 45 inch 5120x2160 240hz 800R OLED would be better than 3840x1600 to me. They are about 18" tall, where the screen surface of a 31.5 inch 16:9 is 15.5" tall (42 inch 16x9 OLED's entire display is ~ 21.3" tall), for comparison. So the 45 inch 5120x2160 's central 4k portion is like the size of a ~ 37 inch 16x9 screen. 640px + 3840px + 640px wide.

Feb 5, 2023 · To me, ~$1000 is very cheap for a monitor of this quality level and I have no problems replacing it in 3 or 4 years if need be. Probably will want something better by then anyway. Hot take: An OLED monitor with burn-in on the panel would *still* be a better looking monitor than any IPS LCD, and it's not even close.

Jan 21, 2023 · So currently, the television and monitor world's obviously currently gone away from direct R-emissive, G-emissive, B-emissive OLED in order to make OLED last long enough without permanent burn in. So that you're using the same light spectrum for all primary colors, to allow equallized OLED-color pixel wear.

Jun 25, 2024 · QD-OLED should see zero desktop usage so should not experience any burn-in. For big screen gamepad PS/PS5 gaming I will still use LG 48GQ900. Unless QD-OLED is so much better I feel compelled to replace it but then it might be something bigger. If I like colors and screen surface doesn't bother me I might go for 65 inch TV.
LG 48GQ900 OLED monitor - text clarity? - [H]ard|Forum
Jan 9, 2023 · I'm definitely looking forward to getting an 8k screen, even if it's just for desktop/apps in a monitor array along with a different gaming monitor at first. Much like how a long time ago I had a 1440p 60hz ips for desktop/app use next to one of the first 120hz 1080p screens lol. Things change but they stay the same.
Are OLED tvs the perfect technology to use as a large pc monitor?
Jul 21, 2017 · It will be some time yet either way but competition from proprietary LG OLED might help motivate a faster timeline for QLED. Yeah, like a decade away or never. It's irrelevant as OLED competition. If/When Micro-LED QD shows up, OLED will already have dropped massively in price, and Micro-LED QD...

Aug 10, 2023 · As most people know, unfortunately LG OLED uses WRGB and samsung uses pentile which are both non-standard subpixel layouts which text-ss is not designed for. The 2D desktop's graphics and imagery typically have no pixel size/edge-masking compensations at all so are displayed at the "raw" pixel grid/size and the true granularity.
