I prefer to think of other M1 equipped devices to be overspecced with a desktop class chip, rather than the other way around. Sure the iMac will eventually get a “M2”, but it’s not worth waiting if you are in the market now.

Which should be much easier with the new 24" iMac as it weighs about as much as a single sheet of paper.
