Lansing is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Lansing is a south suburb of Chicago. The population was 29,076 at the 2020 census. [2] The first family to settle in Lansing was that of August Hildebrandt in 1843. Henry, George, and John Lansing settled the area in 1846, which was incorporated in 1893.

Lansing is located at 41°33′57″N 87°32′45″W / 41.56583°N 87.54583°W / 41.56583; -87.54583 (41.565785, -87.545791). It is 6.9 miles (11.1 km) south of the Chicago city limits at 138th Street, and 25.6 miles (41.2 km) from the Chicago Loop .

2023年4月27日 · LANSING, Ill. (April 26, 2023) – In early 1893 the population of unincorporated Lansing was 249 — and that included the towns of Bernice and Oak Glen. To become incorporated, the State of Illinois required 250 residents. Thanks to a very timely move by a farmer, his wife, and their five children into a home in Bernice, that requirement was met.

Lansing is a Chicago Southland suburb and border town across Indiana's state line from cities Hammond and Munster. Like much of Illinois, Lansing’s population has declined slightly since 2020, according to a 2023 U.S. Census estimate, and the city now has fewer than 28,000 residents for the first time since the 1970s.
