Google is bringing its experimental “reasoning” artificial intelligence model capable of explaining how it answers complex questions to the Gemini app. The Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking update is part of a slew of Gemini 2.0 AI rollouts announced by Google today, including its latest Gemini 2.0 Pro flagship model.

Gemini can perform research on your behalf thanks to the Deep Research feature, and it's now available on the Gemini app for Android.

Google is following the 2.0 Flash launch with new test models in the Gemini app: 2.0 Pro Experimental and 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental.

One of the key benefits of this updated Gemini Live notification panel is that you can pause/hold and resume the conversation without having to go back to the app. By contrast, in its current form, tapping the "End Live mode" on the notification ends that session, thus requiring users to manually reopen the Gemini app to resume the conversation.

Alphabet's fourth-quarter earnings day is here, with numbers expected to be released after the markets close Tuesday. This will be followed by an earnings call at roughly 4:30 p.m. ET. The stock has been riding high over the past month as investors grew bullish over Google's AI investment.
