Organizers say they hope to see hundreds of protestors on Michigan's capital lawn on Wednesday as part of a nationwide effort born on social media just over the last week to speak out en masse against the Trump administration.

At noon Wednesday, protesters gathered at the capitol building in Lansing to protest the actions of President Trump. With minimal organization through social media, the protesters held signs reading several different slogans on topics ranging from transgender rights to economic grievances.

Police and other governmental officials are allowed to place certain restrictions, however, including shutting down a protest through a dispersal order if there is a danger of riot or disorder. A permit to march in the streets or on sidewalks is unnecessary as long as marchers are not obstructing car or pedestrian traffic.

The “50 Protests 50 States 1 Day” protest or 50501, is set to happen at noon Wednesday at every state capitol building in the U.S. It’s not officially organized by any local groups but entities like Women’s March of West Virginia,
