Three Cincinnati restaurateurs among 2025 James Beard award semifinalists
Three Cincinnati hospitality leaders have made it to the semifinals list for the James Beard Foundation’s 2025 Restaurant and Chef Awards. The organization announced the semifinalists Jan. 22. Finalists will be announced April 2, with winners named during an event at Chicago's Lyric Opera June 16.

Louisville chef named James Beard Award semifinalist
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville chef made the cut as a semifinalist for the 2025 James Beard awards. Noam Bilitzer was nominated for the best chef in the southeast. He's the executive chef of the NuLu restaurant Meesh Meesh, which offers family-style eastern Mediterranean and middle eastern food and drinks.

Other Chicago semifinalists include Feld's Jacob Potashnick, who is up for the emerging chef award. Cariño, which earned Chicago's only new Michelin star last year, is up for the best new restaurant honor. Leigh Omilinsky of Daisies is being considered in the outstanding pastry chef or baker category.

Many of the names longlisted are familiar to the institution, which is considered the top honor in culinary excellence in the United States.
